Some years ago I had the idea to weld up used Horseshoe Nails in a canister weld to make damascus cladding for some knives.
I then had the idea of adding carbon steel bandsaw swarf to give contrast and after another year or two I actually got round to doing it!
The nails give the light coloured streaks and the swarf gives the dark streaks with light speckles.
The handle is from Carbonized English Ash.
The core is EN42j, not knowing the composition of the nails I opted for a know steel core to ensure good performance from the cutting edge.
