• Image of Kitchen Cleaver

Kitchen cleaver forged from three steel random pattern Damasus.

I have forged this cleaver with the intention of it being capable as an all-around kitchen knife. The thick blade gives the weight and strength for it to be suitable for cutting bones and larger cuts of meat but the high saber grind gives the edge suitable geometry for slicing vegetables and more delicate kitchen tasks.

The blade is decorated with my barley corn design. The decoration is punched into the hot steel in the forging process to give a deep impression.

The handle is turned from Laburnum with brass ferrule and butt cap. The full-length stick tang gives the handle the strength required for cleaving tasks.
