its not very often things turn out as I imagine them to, design changes occure in the process and improvments made along the way. This cleaver however is one of the few that turned out just as I had hoped and it was a pleasure to make from start to finish.

The blade is hand forged from W2 high carbon steel with full width bevel that is gently convexed to the edge to give risilience when cutting bones. The decoration is stamped and cut into the steel of the blade when it is hot to leave bold but crisp impressions,
The tang is full lenght and peened on the butt cap to hold the handle tight.
The ferrule and butt cap are from forged copper and stamped with a pattern inspired by Anglo-Saxon jewellery from the British Museum.
The Handle its self is turned from Curly Maple and stained with Wood Tar and linseed oil to give the timber a long life and deep lustre.
